NU 02 SW LILBURN LILBURN TOWER

7/90 Wellhead c.100 yards West
of Lilburn Tower

Wellhead. C18 or early C19. Limestone on sandstone plinth. Wrought iron pulley
arch. Circular base consisting of 16 heart-shaped segments giving scalloped edge.
Octagonal wellhead has grotesque terms at angles and shields in scrolled panels
between, one having a mitre over. Egg-and-dart moulding on cornice. Possibly
Italian.
