NU 02 SW RODDAM RODDAM

7/96 Chapel Cottage

GV 11

Estate cottage. Late C18. Dressed stone with Welsh slate roof. Two bays with
pointed-arched windows on garden side. Victorian window frames. On left return
pointed-arched windows with Y-tracery, one light blocked, the other containing
door to clock tower. Square west tower, castellated above moulded drip stone and
cornice. Late C18 clock faces to 2 sides with only one hand each. Working machinery
within. Little lead spire with vane. Entrance side has Victorian porch and windows.
Blocked doorway to right of porch. Early C20 alteration to upper walls and right
return. Brick barrel-vaulted basement, probably a root store.
