shelter sheds at
East Kirknewton Farm
II


Threshing barn and granary with attached gingang and animal shelter sheds.
C18. Random rubble with dressed stone surrounds, pantiled roofs and Welsh
slate roofs.

2-storey barn and shelter sheds in range to rear with single-storey shelter
sheds projecting from each end and gingang attached to centre.

Rear range: to left of gingang 3 elliptical arches and 4 slatted windows to
granary over. To right of gingang a stable-type door to byre with ventilation
slits on 1st floor. Steeply-pitched roof, hipped on right.

Gingang: Round with square dressed stone piers, the spaces between filled with
random rubble walling. Boarded double doors and 1/2-shuttered blacksmith-type
window. Conical Welsh slate roof with complex roof structure.

Shelter shed, projecting on right, has walls of pronounced batter. Hipped roof
with pantiles.

Projecting on left, L-plan shelter shed with 3 cast-iron columns. Gabled Welsh
slate roof.

Further farm buildings immediately to south not of special interest.
