10/118 Nunriding Hall
GV II
House, now divided into three. C17 or earlier, remodelled mid-C18. East
block squared stone, west block rubble, dressings; slate roof. Garden front
in two parts. Right part 2 storeys, 5 bays, symmetrical. Central renewed
door in raised stone surround with sunk panel over; 18-pane sash windows in
raised stone surrounds with narrow chamfers; high-pitched roof with stone end
stacks. Left part slightly lower, 2 storeys, 5 bays. Centrally-placed pair
of doors in C20 surrounds copied from that in right part; windows similar to
right part; remains of older mullioned windows, now blocked. Moulded eaves
cornice; left end stack rebuilt in brick on old stone base. Moulded eaves
cornice continued as coping to left return gable. Single-storey outbuilding
to left has blocked door with chamfered alternating-block surround. Outshuts
and additions to rear not of interest.
