House. East part of main block incorporates tower house built 1589 for James
Ogle, extended and remodelled later C18, restored 1870. Stone, mostly rendered;
slate roofs. South front 2 storeys, 7 bays, slightly irregular. Tuscan porch
in 4th bay, with half-glazed double doors in architrave under pulvinated frieze.
12-pane sash windows in moulded boxes, those on lst floor in chamfered surrounds
(except for C20 windows on ground floor right). Coped gables with moulded
kneelers; brick end stacks, that to right on old stone base. Right return shows
C16 heraldic panel now badly eroded. At left projecting gable end of crosswing,
rebuilt C20 with new windows; re-set old carved stone showing shield in cusped
quatrefoil, (c.f. Smithy at The Demesne Tritlington). Rear elevation shows
Venetian stair window with Gothick glazing bars, in raised stone surround with
keystone. Interior: 1.2 metre thick walls in Cl6 part, otherwise much altered.
