4/46 Bolam Hall East

27.8.52 Wing, and Bolam
Hall West Wing


House, now divided into 2 units. 1810. Built for Robert Horsley for his
daughter Charlotte Philadelphia on her marriage to John Beresford, the Baron
Decies. Ashlar with plinth. Lakeland slate roof. Classical style. 2 storeys,
5 x 5 bays.

West wing: 2 steps up to central original half-glazed door in pedimented
surround with attached Tuscan columns. Sash windows in architraves. Moulded
cornice. Hipped roof with corniced ridge stacks.

East wing has pedimented door in 2nd bay with Venetian window over. Tripartite
windows on ground floor and sash windows above, all in architraves.

Good early C19 interior with wood and marble fireplaces, 6-panel doors and
shutters, moulded friezes. Staircase not seen.
