1865-66. Architect John Johnston. 2 storey ashlar building, exuberant in
French style. 3+5+3 bays. Centre part has central bay projecting slightly
under pediment set into parapet. 2 round arches on ground floor. Upper moor
has round headed window rising into open pediment and flanked by pilasters
consisting of round arches supported on columns. Flat headed windows to right
and left on each floor, open arcaded parapet. Rusticated ground floor. Wings
to right and left are taller and project slightly. Flat headed doors and windows
on ground floor. Upper floor with angle quoins and round headed windows.
Heavy bracketted cornice. Parapet with elaborate pedimented central window.
Tall nipped slate roof with iron cresting. South elevation has 6 circular windows
on 1st floor. Ground floor rusticated with blind shouldered doorway and steps
to off centre porch.
Nos 1 to 9 (consec), The Queen's Hall and Town Hall Buildings together with the The Trinity
Methodist Church and Church Hall form a group with Nos 1 to 8 (consec) Beaumont Street
which are of local interest.
