House, formerly vicarage. Early Cl9 of two builds. Dated on different sections
CB and CB for Christopher Bird, father and son, vicars of Chollerton.
1830 1847
Largely by John Dobson. Ashlar with Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys. Front block
of 3 slightly-irregular bays with double-span rear wing. Left bay and left span
to rear are of earlier build. Front block has pedimented cross-gabled projecting
centre bay with tall 15-pane sash window in eared surround. 16-pane sash in
similar surround above and similar windows in right bay. Left bay has tall
tripartite sash with 10 panes per light on ground floor, 16-pane sash above,both
with plain surrounds. Dentilled eaves course and pediment. Hipped roof and
2 stone corniced ridge stacks.

Right return is entrance front. Flat-topped porch has door of 6-flush panels
in entablature surround. Irregular fenestration, mainly 16-pane sashes. Other
facades have 16- and 9-pane sashes. Rear wing has gabled roofs with 2 ridge
and one end stack. Interior has mid-C19 open-well stair with turned balusters;
6-panelled doors and internal shutters.
