7/85 Cliff House and
Cliffside

GV II

House now subdivided into 3. Early C19 with C18 core. Dressed stone with
ashlar door and window surrounds; ashlar porch and one gable end. Welsh slate
roof. 2 storeys. L-shaped with further small extension to rear. 3-bay front,
the left bay projecting. 6-panelled door with margined overlight in flat-topped
porch in angle of L. A second door, now a C20 French window with overlight, in
central bay has chamfered C18 surround heightened in C19.

Ground floor windows are 12-pane sashes. 1st floor windows are shorter 9-pane
sashes.

Projecting bay has tall 12-pane sash with cyma-moulded cornice. Small window
above.

Gabled roofs of quite steep pitch. Lean-to to rear. Ridged coping and kneelers.
One stone corniced ridge stack and 3 similar end stacks.

Interior has early C19 cast-iron staircase with clustered-shafted balusters and
wreathed handrail. 6-panelled doors and internal shutters.

C20 single-storey addition on left return and C20 lean-to conservatory on
front are not of special interest.
