Catcleugh Reservoir

Compensation arch and basin carrying River Rede at base of Catcleugh Dam.
1899 by T. & C. Hawksley for the Newcastle and Gateshead Water Co. Rock-
faced stone. Round tunnel entry c.15 ft. in diameter with flanking pilasters,
set in pedimented screen wall with very large datestone.

Side walls of basin step down to low front wall with curved corners and
square piers with pyramidal caps.
