House, in multiple occupancy. Main block early C19, south wing mid C19, north
wing 1890 but C18 parts incorporated to rear. Front squared stone with ashlar
dressings, wings ashlar; left return and rear coursed roughly-squared stone,
right return snecked tooled stone. Stone slate roof except for Welsh slates on
south wing.
Front in 3 parts: centre 2 storeys, 4 bays. In second bay 3 steps (with
incised marks showing flood levels) up to 6-panel door with 3-pane overlight in
architrave with cornice broken forward at ends; 1855 flood mark on left jamb.
12-pane sash windows in architraves, the lower with cornices. Broad square end
stacks have panelled corniced shafts. Flanking gabled wings have sash windows
(4-pane in left wing, 12-pane in right) in architraves with slits above; coped
gables with moulded kneelers and trefoil finials.
Left return shows 6-panel door with plain overlight; tripartite sash to left.
Right return shows similar doors flanking projecting bay with triple sash window;
3 12-pane sashes above. Rear elevation complicated: similar doors and various
sash windows; stepped and corniced stacks.
Interior: central pane of front door overlight has painted glass with White
Horse (building was once Inn). Open-string Geometrical stair with turned newel
at foot, stick balusters and swept moulded handrail. 6-panel doors.
