GV II

Inn. C18, heightened and then extended in early C19, further extended C20.
Coursed rubble with cut dressings; stone slate roof except for Welsh slates on
south bay and south-east wing, one brick stack. 2 storeys, 4 bays. Raised
quoins. Original 3-bay part to right has central half-glazed door in raised
alternating-block surround and 12-pane sashes, the lower altered for rotary
vents, in raised stone surrounds. VR wall post-box on far right. Early C19
left bay has 12-pane sashes. Left end stack rebuilt; stepped-and-corniced
right end stack.

C20 south-west wing is not of special interest.

The Inn has historical associations with the ancient Stagshaw Bank Cattle Fair,
formerly held on the moorland immediately to the west.
