Description

NY 75 SE PLENMELLER WITH WHITFIELD OUSTON

14/180 Boundary stone on
north side of road 40
metres east of junction

II

Boundary stone built into foot of field wall, dated 1800. Large trapezoidal
block of coarse sandstone with chamfered segmental arch cut into lower edge,
with roughly incised inscription
C . B ) 1800

Its form would suggest that the stone is a lintel from a late C16 or early C17
building re-used in its present position, on the parish boundary.
