Pair of houses: part of monastic outer court range, remodelled and extended to
rear mid-C18. Rubble with tooled dressings; stone slate roof. Front elevation
2 storeys, 5 bays, irregular. Renewed doors in bays 2 and 3, the former in
chamfered surround. Renewed 12-pane sashes in bay 5 and ground floor bay 4, C20
windows in bay 1. In bay 2 the remains of a blocked shouldered arch with small
chamfered window to right. Brick right end stack. Rear elevation shows parallel
gabled C18 block at rear of No. 2.
Interior: No. 1 has plain C18 fireplace with narrow-chamfered surround. No. 2:
C13 or C14 doorway (now to cupboard) in former rear wall, with chamfered shouldered
arch and drawbar tunnel in jamb. Stair in C18 rear extension has closed string,
stick balusters and moulded handrail. Old 4-panel doors with H hinges. Roof of
front section has 3 principal-rafter trusses with chamfered tiebeams.
