Farmbuildings. Barn ('The Old Joiner's Shop') late C18 incorporated in planned
farmyard dated 1856 on keystone. Rubble with dressings; slate roofs except
for asbestos on barn. Ranges around yard open to south. North part of west
range is Gothick barn: 3 storeys, 5 narrow bays. Boarded door in chamfered
surround and slit vents; 2nd floor shows shaped vents in stone surrounds and
vertical-barred windows to bays 2 and 4. Coped gables with moulded kneelers
and finials; barn returns show 1st-floor doors in chamfered surrounds (that
to left partly blocked, that to right reached by C19 stone stair) with large
quatrefoil windows in gables. Single-storey cartshed to south of barn has
coped left gable and small ridge stack with panelled pot. Rear elevation of
barn shows boarded doors in chamfered surrounds to bays 2 and 4, and blocked
2nd-floor windows above; all other openings are shaped slit vents in stone
surrounds. Single-storey cartshed to right has boarded door and small casement
window, both in chamfered surrounds. North and east ranges both single-storey;
all openings in chamfered surrounds; bracketed eaves. North range shows two
pairs of segmental-headed cart entrances, one with dated keystone; east range
has boarded door, casement windows and shaped slit vents to rear.
C19 ranges included for group value with barn.
