Gate piers and forecourt walls, probably 1856. Piers with chamfered
plinths and angles; moulded pyramidal caps carrying earlier statues
(to left Perseus with Gorgon's head, to right figure in C18 dress)
bought from gatehouse at Greenhead (demolished in 1964): To left
stepped wall with chamfered coping joins Gate Lodge (q.v.) and
continues beyond, returning to lower front wall which has double-
chamfered coping. Smaller forecourt to right similarly enclosed; front
walls swept at drive entrance.
