Gate lodge, 1856 by Thomas Wilson (dated doorhead with monogram).
Squared stone with tooled'ashlar dressings; roof of large Welsh slates.
Playful Gothic style. Elevation to drive 2 storeys, 3 bays, irregular.
Chamfered plinth. Central projecting gabled bay has canted bay window
with 2-light mullioned window flanked by single lights, in moulded stone
surrounds; window of 2 triangular-headed lights above; iron-latticed
cross casements. Right bay has pent porch set forward on left with
vertical-panelled door under triangular head. Stepped ridge stack of
hexagonal plan. Left bay is taller saddleback tower; left return shows
2 4-pane sashes under segmental-pointed heads on ground floor, that
to right on canted cutback corner. Similar lst-floor window under
trefoiled arch; circular opening above in steeply-pitched gable. All
gables coped with moulded kneelers, those to tower with trefoiled panels.
