15/69 Burnside Cottage
Formerly 2 railwaymens' cottages, now single dwelling, c.1840 altered c.1980.
for the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway Company. Squared stone with dressings,
Welsh slate roof and dressed stone chimneys. Single storey, 6 bays. Low plinth
and tooled quoins. Openings in raised chamfered surrounds: replaced door at
left flanked by replaced casements; an identical doorway at right flanked by
replaced casements has been removed. Roof has coped gables and shaped kneelers.
End and central ridge stacks with roll-moulded band at ridge level and chamfered
top. Late C20 rear additions are not of special interest.
