Disused water-powered, corn-grinding mill. Early C19 with mid C19 addition.
Squared rubble with dressings; purple slate roof. Large mill on sloping site.
Main block 2 storeys at left and 3 storeys at right; added 2-storey, 2-bay
range on front (formerly incorporating a corn-drying kiln). Tooled quoins.
Openings in flush surrounds with alternating jambs. Elliptical-arched inspection
opening and rectangular opening for water channel (supplying overshot wheel) in
left bay. 3-bay section of main block at right has wide segmental archway and
scattered openings (including a first-floor loading bay). Addition has tooled
quoins and 3 scattered openings. Roof of main block has coped gables and shaped
kneelers and continues over addition as a catslide. Interior: large overshot
wooden water-wheel in iron frame in ashlar-lined channel; original gearing,
pulleys and 2 sets of grindstones in wooden cases remain in situ. In use until
c.1960. Derelict at time of survey.
