9/97 Gainsborough Bridge
(Formerly listed as Trent
28.2.52 Bridge (that part in
G.V. East Retford Rural District)
Road bridge, 1791, by William Weston altered 1964. Coursed
ashlar and concrete. 3 unequal segmental arches with moulded
soffits. Semicircular cutwaters, lower courses vermiculated,
upper courses and imposts striated with double fillets and domed
caps. Central spandrels have round headed niches flanked by
pilasters; above paterae outer spondrels have round headed niches
flanked by pilasters. Moulded cornice. Above 7 projecting
concrete deck beams, steel balustrade, concrete piers.
