White Gates


Farmhouse, now a house. Mid C17 and C18. Altered and with rear
addition c.1935. Brick and coursed rubble with remains of timber
framing. Plain and Pantile roofs. Coursed rubble plinth.
Remains of first floor band at west end. Partially dentillated
eaves. 2 coped gables, one of them with kneelers. Single gable,
3 ridge and single rear wall stacks. 2 storeys, 6 bays.
Windows are leaded casements, some with timber mullions. North
west front has to left single storey, single bay lean-to
addition. To its right, 6 casements of various sizes. To their
right, C20 brick porch with hipped plain tile roof and a
casement. Above, 5 casements. West gable has to left, porch
with arched doorway. To its right, small casement. To right
again, bay window with hipped plain tile roof, leaded glazing and
French window. Above, 2 C18 leaded casements. South east front
has off-centre 2 storey stair turret with coped gable and
kneelers. To right, C20 2 storey rear wing with hipped roof.
To left, 3 casements. Stair turret has single casement. To its
right, C20 door and casement. Above, to left, 2 and to right
single casements. Interior has to west, single bay post with
strut, 2 cambered span beams, chamfered span beams and 2
fireplace bressumers. 2 early C17 framed panelled doors, one
with carved fluted panel. Original jambs. 4 C18 plank doors.
Salt cupboard with chip carved door. Early C19 Adam style hob
grate with Delft tile surround, set in chip carved C17 surround
with carved panelled overmantel.
