5/1 Manor Farmhouse
Farmhouse. 1625 right gable wall and projecting chimney breast, the
rest a rebuild of 1784. The C17 work of coursed squared rubble with
quoins, the rest of red brick with stone quoins and plinth and a blue
slate roof. Bracketted eaves, stone-coped gables on square brick
kneelers, brick end stacks. 3-bay facade with central rear wing
forming a T-plan. Two storeys and garret. The near-symmetrical
facade has an off-centre segmental-headed doorway with later panelled
door and tripartite over-light, flanked by segmental-headed windows with
tripartite, transomed casements. Tall, narrow stair window, above the
door, with leaded panes and a single transom. Either side, single
tripartite casements. The right return has the broad C17 stack which
reduces with offsets. Small chamfered light to each side at 1st floor
level under a drip moulding which continues across the stack. Bipartite
8-pane window. The upper part of the stack is of brick with a reset
stone plaque which reads EH MH.
The rear wing has 12-pane segmental headed sashes, and in the gable is
a tablet inscribed TC 1784.
