Hall. Originally of circa 1704 remodelled circa 1860. Brick and
stucco with rusticated ground floor and quoins. Rectangular plan
with 7-bay entrance front, 5-bay facade and 5-bay garden front, and lower
additions to the rear. Classical Italianate style. 3 storeys and
basement. The symmetrical facade has a balustrade to the basement well.
The centre 3 bays are narrower and break forward slightly and are framed
at 1st and 2nd floorlevel by giant fluted Corinthian pilasters. Square-
headed sash windows, without glazing bars, in moulded architraves.
Console brackets, paired to the centre break, support the ground-floor
cornice. The lst-floor windows are balustraded and pedimented,
segmental to the centre break and triangular to the outer bays.
Shorter 2nd floor windows. Dentilled and modillioned moulded eaves
cornice and balustraded parapet. The entrance front, (left return),
is of 4 plus 3 bays the former set back slightly. 2-storey porch to
the centre of the 3-bay section the ground floor of which extends forward
on 2 columns. Balustraded balcony above each stage. lst-floor windows
have balustrades and triangular pediments. Two swagged oval windows.
Single-storey projection to left with tripartite window. The garden
front is symmetrical with a 6-step stair leading to a central French
window. Similar treatment to entrance front. Central lst-floor window
with segmental pediment and bow-shaped balcony. Lower 2-storey single
bay to right, set back with tripartite windows. Attached to this is the
projecting 5 x 3-bay orangery which has round-arched windows separated by
paired Corinthian pilasters. Along the length of the garden front is a
balustrade with 2 sets of stairs leading down to the garden.
