3/29 Hall Farm House
Farmhouse. c.1630, refenestrated c.1690. By William Clarkson.
Brick and rubble with pantile roof and stone slate verge.
Chamfered stone and brick plinths, ashlar quoins, 2 gable stacks,
one projecting, single ridge stack. 2 storeys plus garrets, 3
bays. L-plan. Front windows are stone mullioned 3 and 4 light
casements with hood moulds. Main east front has 3 windows and
above, 3 similar windows. South gable has, to left, C19 door in
chamfered ashlar surround. West front has off-centre mullioned
window, 4 lights, flanked by single 3 light mullioned windows.
Above, 3 mullioned windows of different sizes. South front has,
to left, C19 addition, single storey, single bay, brick with
pantile roof. C20 brick porch with door and 2 casements. To
right, 3 light mullioned window and to right again, C19 door in
chamfered ashlar surround. Above, 2 mullioned windows of
different sizes. West gable has, above, to right, blocked square
light with chamfered ashlar surround and hood mould. Above
again, C20 casement. North side has to left, gabled main range.
Central ashlar doorcase with C19 door, flanked by single
mullioned windows. To right again, C20 addition, brick, with
door and 2 casements. Above, 3 mullioned windows of different
sizes. Above again, in gable, 2 light mullioned window. Strutted
queen post roof with some renewed rafters and additional softwood
collars. Interior has early C19 spiral stair in stone well, with
scrolled ramped oak handrail. Oak winder stair to attic. Single
chamfered span beam with ogee stops.
