Stable block and attached cottage and pump, part now converted to
domestic use. Early C19, probably by Lewis Wyatt. Inner
courtyard of painted red brick. Hipped slate roofs. Remains of
6 red brick stacks to the 2 storey ranges. Moulded eaves bands.
Set on a plinth. 2 and single storey. Hexagonal-plan. First
floor band, damaged at the north side. West side 2 storeys, 3
bays, topped with a pediment. Central large arched carriageway
with keyblock and continuous impost bands, outer arched double
plank door. Either side are single arched doorways each with
plank door and fanlight above and 2 casements under segmental
arches. Projecting at an obtuse angle from the left is a single
storey 5 bay wing with central doorway with plank door. Either
side are 2 casements, all openings under segmental arches.
Extending from this at an obtuse angle is a further single storey
7 bay range, having a single casement and to the left a doorway
with plank door, 2 casements, a similar doorway and door, a
single casement and on the far left a smaller doorway with plank
door. All under segmental arches. Projecting from the right of
the west wing at an obtuse angle is a 2 storey, 3 bay range
having a carriage archway with arched double plank door. To
the right is a similar archway now part blocked and containing a
single glazing bar sash, further right in a blocked domestic
doorway with segmental arch is a single glazing bar Yorkshire
sash. Above are 3 casements under segmental arches. Projecting
at an obtuse angle from the right is a further 2 storey, 7 bay
range having 2 similar carriage archways and doors, to the right
is a single casement, a doorway with plank door, a single
casement, a similar doorway with plank door and a single
casement. Above are 5 casements. All under segmental arches.
Projecting at a right angle from this wing and forming the
hexagon with the single storey wings is a 2 storey, 5 bay range
with central wooden clock tower with remains of single clock face
to each side, this is supported on a rectangular platform with
pediment to west and east sides and is surmounted by an arched
wood and lead cupola containing a bell and topped with a
weather vane. To the left is a tall rectangular woodenlouvred
ventilator with lead roof. Central carriage archway with arched
double plank door. To the right are 2 wider archways with arched
double plank doors. To the left is a carriage archway, now part
blocked with glass and wood and with glazed double door. Further
left is a large C20 fixed light under segmental arch, traversing
both floors. Above, single central tripartite opening having
wooden planks under and fixed lights and single C20 central
casement over the single wooden transom. To the right are 2
casements. All casements are pivotal and have glazing bars.
Adjacent to the left side of this wing is a wood, iron and lead
pump with shaped ashlar trough. The west wall of the west range
is also topped with a pediment. Attached to the north front is
the 2 storey, 3 bay cottage with left red brick gable stack and
dentil eaves. 3 glazing bar Yorkshire sashes with 3 glazing bar
sashes above, all under segmental arches. To the right, slightly
set back is a one and a half storey, 3 bay wing with dentil
eaves. Single glazing bar Yorkshire sash, to the right is a
doorway with plank door, further right is a doorway with plank
door and overlight flanked by single glazed slit ventilators,
sash and doorways are under segmental arches. Above right is a
single glazing bar Yorkshire sash lacking most of glazing.
