Wall and gate at Burgess House and Burgess Cottage

Wall and gate. Late C18. Red brick, ashlar and iron. Red brick
wall one and a half metres high, with shaped ashlar coping
extending for 22 metres in front of Burgess House and Cottage,
rising at either end to form piers and similarly rising in the
centre to form single gate piers with ashlar hinge and lock
blocks flanking the decorative ogee arched iron gate. The coping
of the piers here topped with single ashlar orbs. A similar
higher wall extends from the outer angles to meet the house at
the right side and to terminate 1 metre before the cottage on the
left side. Included for group value only.
