House, formerly school and house. 1738, with later C18 and late C19
extensions. Built for the Burnell Family. Whitewashed red brick.
Plain tile roof. Single red brick stacks to ridge, ridge of right
bay and rear gable of left bay. Plain bargeboards and finials to
outer single bays. Dentil and raised brick eaves to the single
central bays flanking the doorway. 2 storeys plus attic, 5 bays.
The outer single bays are gabled, are slightly set back and have
first floor bands. The right being late C18 and the left late C19.
Single central slightly projecting bay with doorway with panelled
door with relieving arch. Open wood and tile gabled porch. Either
side are single rusticated pilaster strips. Further left is a
single C20 casement and further right a single casement under
segmental arch. On the far left is a single C20 casement and on the
far right a single tripartite casement. Over the doorway is a
single ashlar plaque with arched head and illegible inscription. In
the attic are 2 wood and tile gabled dormers each with single case-
ment. In the outer gabled bays are single glazing bar Yorkshire
sashes under segmental arches.
