House. C17. Adjoining cottage. C18. Timber framing with brick
nogging and brick. Steep pitched pantile roofs. Brick and stone
plinths, plain and dentillated eaves, coped gables with kneelers,
single gable and single ridge stacks. 2 storeys plus garrets, 2
bays. L-plan. Most windows are C20 casements. West front has
to left, single storey, single bay lean-to, C18, brick with
pantile roof, with C20 door and flanking light. To right, corner
post with strut, and to right again, door flanked by single
casements. Above, to left, C19 gabled dormer with plain tile
roof, and to right, 2 casements. South gable has 2 casements on
each floor plus single casement to garret. Interior has re-sited
dogleg stair with square newel, adjoining stud partition, 2 bay
posts, one with jowl and curved brace, chamfered span beams, one
with broach stop, principal rafter roofs with collars and clasp
purlins. 11 C19 plank doors. Elderberry Cottage has to south
C20 door and flanking light, and a casement. Above , 2 casements.
East gable has C20 door flanked by single casements, that to left
with segmental head. Above, to right, a casement, and above
again, C19 casement with segmental head.
