Description

CHARLTON ON OTMOOR HIGH STREET
SP51NE (North side)
3/13 Grebe Cottage
GV II
Houses, formerly subdivided. Probably C17 and C18, extended C20. Limestone rubble
with wooden lintels; thatch and old plain-tile roofs with rubble and brick
stacks. 2-unit plan extended to 4 units, plus rear wing. 2 storeys. Central bays
of front are thatched, and have small 2-light casements flanking a central
rounded stair projection with a tiny window. Tiled 2-window range to right has
higher eaves and contains a doorway; it is probably C18 but may be an earlier
structure raised later. Tiled bay to left of the earlier range contains the
present main entrance. A large rubble and brick stack rises at the junction of
this bay and the earlier section. Rear of thatched bays are largely obscured by
a thatched C20 rear wing. Interior not inspected.
