Dovecote, now sheltershed. Late C17/early C18. Chequer brick with flared
headers; Welsh-slate roof. Rectangular plan. Walls have 4-course rusticated
quoins and a projecting brick band. Front has a small central doorway with a
heavy frame below a gauged flat arch incorporating a keystone carved with
acanthus. Ends have small openings at high level. Inserted openings to rear and
in right end. Hipped roof. Interior: 2 square chambers lined with brick nesting
boxes; door opens into recess in central cross wall. Northbrook was the site of
the C16/C17 mansion of the Dashwood family, demolished 1750.
