Farmhouse. Early C17 with C18 and C20 alterations. 2 builds. Left part. Squared
coursed limestone faced with roughcast. Stand end stacks with diagonally set
brick shafts. Central-staircase plan. 3 storeys. 3-window range. Central
entrance has panelled/glazed door and wood frame. C20 iron-work porch. Entrance
is flanked by a 4-light metal casement to left and 3-light metal casement to
right. Lead cames, wrought-iron casement fasteners and sheet glass. First floor
has three 3-light similar windows. Attic floor has three 3-light metal casements
in wood frames with lead cames, crown glass and wrought-iron casement fasteners
and springs. Rear, 2-storey staircase projection with small 3-light wood
mullioned window. Right part. Squared coursed limestone. Steeply pitched slate
roof. Brick end stack. 2-unit plan. 2 storeys. 2-window range. Entrance to left
has C20 door in wood frame with original wood lintel. C20 window to right with
wood lintel. First floor has two 2-light casements with wood lintels. Rear has
brick dovecute course between ground and first floors. Stable and loft doors and
wood lintels. Early C17 part is noted as containing a C17 plaster carving of
royal coat of arms and an oak staircase. (VCH). Interior not inspected. Once the
home of the Addington family.
