Two houses, possibly formerly one house. C16, altered C17/C18. Coursed squared
marlstone with wooden lintels; concrete plain-tile roof with stone and brick
stacks. 4-unit plan, subdivided. 2 storeys. Irregular 4-window front, which
shows many signs of early alteration, has in bays one and 2 (No.1) renewed 2-
and 3-light casements plus 2 entrances, and in bays 3 and 4 (No.2) has 3-light
C18 casements plus a further entrance and a small stair window. Continuous
steep-pitched roof has brick stacks to right of bays 2 and 4 plus a stone-based
stack to right of bay one. Rear includes a small stone window of 2 pointed
lights, and a blocked 4-centre-arched doorway opposite the middle entrance.
Interior: No.1 has a large open fireplace with chamfered bressumer, a
stop-chamfered spine beam, and is said to have a stone stair beneath the present
stair; No.2 has heavy chamfered intersecting beams spanning onto similar
perimeter beams, and has some very heavy chamfered joists.
