House. Probably late C17, re-modelled early/mid C18 and altered and extended
early C29. Coursed squared marlstone with limestone-ashlar dressings;
Welsh-slate and Stonesfield-slate roofs with ashlar gable stacks. 2-unit plan
with long rear range, extended. 2 storeys plus attic and 2 storeys. Regular
4-window front of main range, with chamfered stone plinth and eaves cove, has
12-pane sash windows in C18 stone architraves with projecting double-stepped
keyblocks; doorway in bay 3 has a 4-panel door with matching panelled reveals
and an early-C19 stone doorcase with Tuscan columns bearing an entablature. To
right, 2 later bays with matching windows are set back slightly and have a lower
stone-slate roof. Steep-pitched Welsh-slate roof of main range has gable
parapets with projecting kneelers, each gable with a paired stack with linked
plinth and cap. Left gable contains a leaded 2-light window with square stone
mullion and moulded architrave; a matching window has been blocked by the added
bays. Long rear wing, returning from left, is probably mostly early C19 and
contains subsidiary accommodation plus garaging; it has some casements and
several segmental-arched openings. Rear noted as having a stair projection.
Interior not inspected but noted as having a late-C17 stair.
