Chest tomb. Early C19 by Cakebread of Bloxham. Limestone or possibly Coade
stone. Neo-classical style. Elaborate rectangular chest, standing on a 2-step
plinth, has panelled sides flanked by acanthus-enriched consoles, and has a high
cover surrounded by antifixae carved with anthemion ornament, on which stands a
fluted and draped urn between flat scrolls. The earlier inscriptions are largely
illegible but a later inscription commemorates Sir William Hitchcock.
