Description

SP463l DEDDINGTON HIGH STREET
(West side)
8/169 Osborne House
26/02/88

GV II
House. Mid C18, probably with earlier origins, altered late C18. Coursed squared
marlstone with some ashlar dressings; Welsh-slate roof with brick end stacks. L
plan. 2 storeys. 4-window front, with renewed 16-pane sashes below flat arches,
has the entrance in bay 3 set into the remains of a depressed-arched carriage
entry with large ashlar voussoirs; the 6-panel door and moulded flat canopy on
scrolled brackets are probably C18 but may be reset in late-C18. The window to
right of the doorway, below wooden lintel, is taller and is probably also a
late C18 alteration. Steep-pitched roof. Long rear wing returns from left.
Interior not inspected.
