(North side)
8/241 Earls Farmhouse
22/03/88
II
Farmhouse. Probably early C18 with C17 origins. Coursed squared marlstone with
some wooden lintels; concrete plain-tile and Welsh-slate roof with brick stacks.
3-unit plan in 2 builds. 2 storeys. Wide left bay of 5-window front has a
3-light C18 casement at first floor and a renewed casement below, both with
wooden lintels. Remainder of front has a regular 4-window arrangement with
2-light first-floor casements below rubble flat arches, and with a central
doorway in a C20 porch flanked by, to left, a renewed canted bay window and, to
right, 2 adjoining windows, probably an alteration. Left end wall shows an
earlier gable line. Steep-pitched roof has stacks flanking both sections and has
a gable parapet to left with moulded kneelers. Interior not inspected.
