Farmhouse now house. Datestone TH/1686. Alterations in C20. Squared, coursed
ironstone. Steeply pitched stone slate roof laid to diminishing courses. Stone
coped gables with moulded kneelers. Renewed brick ridge and end stacks. 3-unit
plan. 2 storeys. 5-window range. Entrance off-centre to left has a C20 door and
a moulded stone flat doorhead decorated with rosettes and swags. Ground floor
has three 3-light stone mullioned windows with opening casements. Continuous
string over windows. First floor has four 2-light stone mullioned windows with
casements and continuous string course over. Right end has 2 blocked windows.
Rear has four 2-light stone mullioned windows on both ground and first floors
with hood moulds and label stops, oval window above door. Interior. Stop
chamfered beams, inglenook fireplace and stone fireplace with 4-centred head.
Circular stairwell remains for original staircase. Original 3-unit plan
survives. Window on first floor bias a wrought-iron casement fastener with
initials TH worked in iron forming a connection with the datestone over the
front door. The initials may refer to Thomas Hawten.
