GV II
House. C19 datestone BG 1633. Squared, coursed ironstone. Steeply pitched
red-tile and blue fishscale-tile roof. Stone coped gables with moulded kneelers.
Stone end stacks with blue brick shafts. 3-unit plan plus single-unit extension
on right. 2 storeys. 3-window range. Elevation to road has 2 entrances with
4-centred arched stone heads and chamfered jambs. Entrance on left, now blocked,
has an inserted C20 window and hood mould with diagonally shaped label stop.
Above a datestone Ad 1415. Doorway on right has a panelled/glazed door. First
floor has two 3-light and a 2-light stone mullioned windows and on far right a
3-light similar window. Opening casements with wrought-iron casement fasteners.
Hood moulds and label stops. Left end has datestone BG 1633 renewed in C19 and a
2-light stone mullioned attic window. It is possible that BG stands for Bret
Goodwin who later became Lord of Epwell manor.
