No 47 (The Old Forge)

Late C16/early C17 industrial building, timber framed, with red brick
infilling, ground floor red brick with flint panels. Old tiled roof.
Formerly used as a forge and said to have also been a tannery, now converted
into a house. 2 storeys, 8 windows in all, leaded casements of 1, 2 and
3 lights, mostly reproduction. Reproduction Tudor arched door and similar
garage door set under re-used old timber lintel. Grade II for group value.
Nos 5 to 35 (odd), and 45 to 65 (odd) Old Timbers and Friday Cottage and
No 73 form a group in association with Nos 4 and 6, No 10, Nos 14, 14A
and 16, Nos 54 and 56, The Anchor Hotel and Baltic Cottage opposite with
Baltic House Thameside.
