C16/C17 and later, timber framed house (now 2 houses). Eastern part has
jettied gable end with timbering (close-studding) exposed. Most of facade
otherwise of painted brick. Old tiled roof. Facade to Friday Street
of 2 storeys and attic, ground floor has 2 doors, an early C19 casement
and reproduction bow window. Above, 2 early C19 casements but original
window openings remain visible between these later windows. One early
C19 casement visible above in gable end. Return to Queen Street has corner
gable with small early C19 casement in half hipped end of older part of
roof. 2 storeys, 3 windows, upper storey C19 casements lower, reproduction
bow and modern glazing. 6 panelled door with cornice above.
Nos 5 to 35 (odd), and 45 to 65 (odd) Old Timbers and Friday Cottage and
No 73 form a group in association with Nos 4 and 6, No 10, Nos 14, 14A
and 16, Nos 54 and 56, The Anchor Hotel and Baltic Cottage opposite with
Baltic House Thameside.
