1896 on date plaque and building ascribed to "Road Widening Corporation".
Flamboyant Jacobean style. Red brick with stone dressings, roof not visible.
3 storeys and attics, 4 windows and 2 corner bays. Brick pilasters between
windows. Mullions and transoms, elaborate tracery. Contemporary shop
fronts with carved brackets above. Important focal position at road junction.
Nos 1 to 7 (odd) Greys Road form a group with Nos 43, 45, 47, 47A and
49 and with No 30 (The Queen's Head) Dukes Street and Nos 2 and 4 Reading
