C18 facade to timber framed building. Some framing exposed in eastern
side wall. Stucco facade. Steeply pitched, old tiled roof, common with
(though slightly advanced from) that of No 55 (q.v.). 2 storeys, 4 bays.
Ground floor has good C19 shop front with wide, overhanging cornice.
2 storey canted bay to east and carriageway arch at east end. 2 other
1st floor windows. All sashes, most with glazing bars.

Nos 5 to 39 (odd), the Drinking Fountain, the Parish Church of St Mary
and the raised pavement at the east end of Hart Street, form a group associated
with Nos 2 to 8 (even) Nos 14 to 36 (even) including Adam House and Nos
40, 44 (including gates and piers) 48, No 50, The Old School House and
the Rectory Garden Wall opposite.
