SP 5902 CUDDESDON AND DENTON DENTON
9/27 Wall of kitchen garden,
Denton House.
GV II

Garden wall. Mid C18 with mid-C17 feature. Coursed limestone rubble with
ashlar dressings. Wall which surrounds garden, is about 2.5m high with a
tapering coursed-rubble coping. It has a segmental arched doorway from the
stable-yard on the west and two 3-centre arched doorways in the south-west
corner. Adjacent is a section raised to resemble a rounded gable in which
is set a round-headed mid-C17 window of 2 cusped lights brought in 1844-5
from the library of Brasenose College, Oxford. Included for group value.
