Gatepier. Mid/late C17. Limestone. Square rusticated pier has moulded plinth, to
front and rear, and heavy moulded entablature with ball finial, One of a pair
(q.v.). Probably originally the entrance to a walled garden, the remains of
which survive. The western pier stands in the present garden of Cromwell's
House.
