Chilworth Farmhouse

Two barns and attached farm building. C18 and C19. Weatherboarded timber framing
and timber framing with brick infill; plain-tile roofs. Early C18 barn of 4
bays, with coursed rubble plinth, has full-height doors to right of centre. Late
C18/early C19 barn of 5 bays, to left, has low rubble plinth raised in brickwork
with flared headers, and has central doors. Lower timber-framed building to
right, of one storey plus loft, has doors and casement windows in gable wall,
and dovecote formed in the brick infill panels of the half-hipped gable.
Interiors: 4-bay roof has trusses with short curved principals; 5-bay roof has
scissor trusses of light scantling and unstable construction.
