4/151 Manor Cottage
House. C17, altered early C18. Limestone rubble and squared quoins with timber
lintels; old plain-tile roof and brick stacks. 3-unit through-passage plan. One
storey plus attics. 3-window front has plank door with heavy frame and canopy on
early C18 scroll brackets to left of centre; two 3-light casements to right and
one to left, each with a 3-light gabled dormer above. Stacks to right of centre
and left gable. Further bay to left, formerly a dairy and loft, has tall window
with segmental head. Rear has small wing, casements, irregular dormers and heavy
plank door. Interior: Early C18 stair with turned balusters and landing
balustrade; fielded panelled doors with L-hinges; heavy joists and chamfered
beams; open fireplace with bread oven; moulded plank-and-vee door.
