entrance gates (q.v.)

Lodge and gates. 1904 by C.E. Mallows for Robert Fleming. Red brick with
stone dressings; slate roof; brick and stone stack. Square plan with angled
corners. Beaux Arts style. Single storey; 3-bay range. Central 6-panel door
with stone architrave and cornice supported on brackets, in semi-circular
recess, flanked by stone Doric columns. 9-pane sashes to left and right with
stone architrave and cornice. Stone quoins to left and right ends. Angled
stone corners with oval wreathed window. Entablature to eaves, pyramidal roof
with apex stack of brick with stone coping. Square stack has niches to each
side. Left and right returns of three 9-pane sashes with stone architrave and
cornice, bracketed to centre, with Doric columns between. Stone quoins to ends
and entablature to eaves. Interior not inspected. Attached entrance gates:
Pierced iron piers with decorative central entrance gates with overthrow, and
pedestrian gates to left and right. Ornamental stone pier with brick
quoins and oval wreathed opening to end.
