House. Late C16, refronted early C18 with C19 and C20 alterations. Red brick;
slate roof with lead ridges; brick end stacks. L-plan. 2 storeys and attic;
6-window range. Central 8-panelled door with fanlight and flanking 6-pane sashes
in Venetian window surround in rusticated painted stone. Four 12-pane sashes to
ground floor. Brick band between ground and first floor. Six 12-pane sashes to
first floor. Dentil cornice to eaves. Hipped roof. 5 full dormers with segmental
open pediments and 6-pane sashes. Rear: 2 storeys and attic; 7-window range:
3:4. 3-window range to left; 15-pane sashes to ground floor; 12-pane sashes to
first floor; 6-pane sashes to parapetted attic. 2-window return to right has C20
French door to ground floor. 12-pane sashes to first floor. 6-pane sash to left
of parapetted attic. 4-window range to right. Two 10-pane sashes to ground floor
left; two 15-pane sashes to ground floor right; two 8-pane sashes to first floor
left; two 12-pane sashes to first floor right; four 4-pane sashes to parapetted
attic. Brick bands between ground and first floor and between first floor and
attic. C19 wing to right; 2-storey, 2-window range. Two 12-pane sashes to ground
floor. One 12-pane sash to first floor. Parapet to roof. Angled bay window to
right hand return. Interior: Entrance hall has dentil plaster cornice to ceiling
with central motif. Dining room, ground floor left, and main bedroom, first
floor right have probably C17 painted panelling. Staircase, straight flight with
winder and C20 balustrade. Photographs in National Monuments Record show house
prior to restoration of c.1940.
