Plum Tree Cottage

GV II

Small house. C17, remodelled and extended C18 and C20. Colourwashed coursed
rubble aid some timber framing; thatch roof with brick gable stack. 2-unit
lobby-entry plan, extended and altered. One storey plus attics. Entrance front,
facing away from road, has blocked doorway to extreme left, and a C20 wing
projecting to right containing present entrance. Road front has two 3-light
segmental-arched casements with 3-light dormers above. Stack is in line with
former entrance and the lean-to bay, against the timber-framed left gable wall,
is the remains of the left half of the C17 house. Right bay of present house is
probably C18. Interior: back-to-back open fireplaces; chamfered and stopped
beans; quarter-turn stair against timber-framed internal wall, formerly right
gable.
