18/07/63 No.84 (Court Farmhouse)
(Formerly listed as Court
Farmhouse)

GV II

Farmhouse, now house. C17, remodelled and extended C18. Timber framing cased in
coursed clunch rubble with some brick dressings; old plain-tile roof with brick
stacks. Probably L-plan, infilled. 2 storeys. 3-window road front, with brick
dressings and ornamental eaves course, has, to left, pairs of segmental-arched
windows with a datestone between the upper pair, inscribed "WB/1764", and a Sun
Insurance plaque; to extreme right are similar single windows at both floors.
All windows have 2-light horizontal-sliding sashes. Roof is hipped to right and
returns to an irregular range with a pair of horizontal sliding sashes above a
C19 bay window, and with the gable of the rear range retaining evidence of
timber framing. Rubble rear wall has stone-arched windows and contains the main
entrance. Interior: large open fireplace; first-floor fireplace with C17
double-panelled overmantel; much exposed framing.
